An esteemed electronics professional
Bergman began his career as a designer at Philco Ford in 1956 and remained with the company until 1974, at which point he was a member of the company’s advanced technology group specializing in printed circuit computer-aided design. He went on to join IPC as Technical Director and in 1985 received the IPC Hall of Fame Award, its highest honour.
Bergman’s involvement with the IEC began in 1972 when he was US Deputy Technical Advisor to TC 52: Printed circuits (now disbanded) and in 1986 became its Chairman. In 1991 he was named US Technical Advisor to TC 91 and was elected Chairman of the Committee in 2001, a position he held until his death.
